Elle’s compassion for others was apparent from a very young age. Her ability to read others’ truth enabled her to develop a talent for stage acting, inhabiting and projecting a character’s inner world. This led to her being chosen whilst still at school by an acting agency.
After London, Elle moved back to the countryside where she’s most at home. A degree in Psychology from the Open University meant she was working full-time and volunteering with a variety of different groups of people. This enabled her to expand both her academic and client skills at the same time, over a six-year period.

Elle’s work has included:
- Volunteer support at Somerset & Wessex Eating Disorder Association
- Volunteer mentor for young people referred by their social worker
- Caring for people with Huntingdon’s, PICA syndrome, brain damage
- Caring for adults with dementia
- After-school exercise class for primary school children
- Working in a psychiatric hospital
- Facilitating groups for people with Asperger’s
- Working with adults with learning disabilities to support speech & language, physio, and occupational therapy
- Mentor for a young man with autism
- Caring for an older gentleman with cerebral palsy
- Volunteer at a pre-school
- Co-founder of a memory cafe for people with memory difficulties and their supporters.
Her 1st class honours degree and range of experience secured her a place on two graduate medical school courses. Elle went on to win several surgery competitions.
However, her father’s dementia was worsening and her mother’s mental health with it. Elle struggled to maintain focus with the intense course and left after the first year, embarrassed and defeated.
Elle’s mother runs a lingerie boutique so she got stuck into supporting her in growing the business. Elle worked hard on the boutique’s social media presence, website, and attended networking meetings in order to spread the word. It was at one of these breakfast meetings that she met Mathew Wood.

Mathew, Mathew’s business partner, and Elle formed a strong team that took Orchards Estates from start-up to being rated best estate agent in the UK, as assessed by The Property Academy and Rightmove in just 3 years.
Combining her psychology and medical experience with her industry time, Elle hopes to create a shift for the industry as a whole into ‘sales with self-care’.
The impact of this could be huge. The future potential includes:
- greater staff retention
- recruitment of more talent
- happier, more satisfied clients
- better interdisciplinary relationships, i.e. solicitors, surveyors
- raising the reputation of the whole industry.
